Guangzhou Arbitration Commission (GAC) was formally established on August 29, 1995 under the Arbitration Law of the People's Republic of China. As the only civil and commercial arbitration body in Guangzhou, it has always observed the principle of arbitration based on independence and efficiency, and by means of arbitration found resolution to civil and commercial disputes and other property rights disputes arising between natural persons, legal persons and other organizations of equal subjects.

Aside from headquarters, GAC also has established branch offices in Dongguan, Zhongshan and Nansha. The headquarters is located at the office building of Riverside Hotel.

As a bureau-level institution, GAC is comprised of five functions, including the executive office (HR department), case acceptance department, international arbitration department, secretary department, and arbitration development department.
